How should historians judge Richard Nixon?
Nixon has often divided opinions. One thing I know for certain, however, is that he is an extremely interesting President to study. While we aren't going into any detail on his domestic policies, I would like you to review his foreign policies. Try to connect with the number of key events before his resignation in 1974.
Start off by reviewing the PowerPoint alongside my commentary.

I would really appreciate you taking the time to consider the questions at the end of the PowerPoint.
There are also a few activities for you to complete. The first is a review of Détente (but perhaps you have already completed this? The second is to do your own independent research on the Watergate Scandal. Thirdly, I would like you to consider the Sino-American rapprochement. I've done some work here already by creating a set of notes from previous PPT deliveries. Your job is to complete the task researching the relationship between the USA and Taiwan.
There's lots of options to extend/support your learning too. I've included a short piece of reading on Chinese rapprochement under Nixon and there's a good BBC Sounds 'Great Lives' podcast on Nixon. Needless to say, there's enough to be getting on with!
