The Suez Crisis (1956)

The Suez Crisis was a clash between Arab nationalism and the colonial powers, Britain and France, who wanted to maintain their power and influence in the region. It extended the Cold War into the Middle East as both the USA and USSR were drawn into the conflict. This content will examine the effects and growth of Egyptian nationalism, what happened during the Suez Crisis and the Sinai War and the significance of the role of outside powers in the crisis.

The video commentary is just over 30 minutes long, so a double lesson (90 minutes) should be used to review this; take your own notes and complete the tasks when prompted.
