Hitler's foreign policy

All work that is completed should be uploaded on the day to OneNote. This is Chapter 4 work.

Title: How did Hitler change Germany's international reputation?

Starter: Download the file 'What can we learn from Hitler's writing' and complete the four questions in full sentences. Be ready to feed back on this. This is also detailed on the first slide of the PowerPoint. (15 minutes)

Step 1: Download the PowerPoint. By this point you should have written a date and title. (2 minutes)

Step 2: Read the recap on slide 3 and watch the video linked on slide 4. (7 minutes)

Step 3: Download the file 'Collins - Hitler's foreign policy' and complete the table on slide 5 (hidden behind the cartoon if you aren't on the presentation setting). Detail the events and dates, what happened and the European view. You can watch the video either before or after completing the task. (25 minutes)

Step 4: Watch the video on appeasement (linked on slide 6) and take notes on why it was followed and how Hitler took advantage of it (20 minutes)

Step 5: (slide 7) Use the Collins Germany book to create your own BBC Bitesize style video/webpage explaining the events leading to war in 1939. (45 minutes)
You should cover:
  • Hitler’s aims
  • Brief background to 1938
  • Anschluss – March 1938
  • Sudetenland & Appeasement – September 1938
  • Czechoslovakia – March 1939
  • The USSR and Poland – September 1939

Step 6: Download the file 'Hitler's foreign policy card sort' and complete the tasks outlined on slide 8. If you are unable to print these, try to complete the task digitally and upload your work to OneNote. (20 minutes).
